I just bought an Inspiron 570 w/ Windows 7, added a new PCI firewire card, and it isn't available or visible in the Device Manager. I've shown all hidden devices, scanned for hardware changes, checked for driver updates, restarted so many times the paint's worn off the the ON button, etc.
Nov 30, 2006 Alesis is shipping the IO 26 and IO 14 FireWire Audio/MIDI interfaces, which feature DICE II Jitter Elimination Technology (JET); Cirrus converters; high definition, transformerless mic preamps with NeutriK connectors; and compatibility with most DAW software. Jul 06, 2010 I have the same issue, brand new Alesis io26, brand new iMac with OS 10.6.3. Downloaded all the latest drivers from Alesis website. I find that when the firewire light is on, the Mac picks up the io26 fine, but as soon as I switch the Mac off, and back on the next day, the firewire light does not come on, and the Mac cannot see the Alesis.

In summary, the I/O26 offers 26 inputs (eight analogue, 16 ADAT and two via S/PDIF) and eight simultaneous outputs (all analogue, while the S/PDIF output can be assigned to replicate any of the analogue output pairs). Sample rates of up to 192kHz are supported, all at 24-bit. All eight analogue inputs feature switchable phantom power, and two headphone outputs and MIDI In and Out are also featured. More uniquely, the I/O26 also includes dedicated turntable inputs and insert points on every analogue input. Aside from the driver and mixer software (described below), Cubase LE is also included in the price and would make a perfectly respectable starting point for those taking their first steps in computer-based recording. So if you are currently struggling to make a choice between the large number of multi-channel audio interfaces that are now available, have Alesis made that choice easier or more difficult with the I/O26?

When you connect a USB audio device to a Windows 10 Version 1703-based computer the first time, the operating system detects the device but loads the standard USB audio 2.0 driver (usbaudio2.sys) instead of the specific device driver.
This issue occurs because the USB audio 2.0 driver (usbaudio2.sys) isn't classified as a generic driver in Windows 10 Version 1703. Therefore, the system assumes that a compatible, nongeneric driver is installed for the device even though the driver is generic.
If the device-specific driver is distributed through Windows Update, you can manually update the driver by using Device Manager. For more information about how to do this, see update drivers in Windows 10.
If the device is not yet connected, first install the device-specific driver, such as by using the appropriate installer. After the device-specific driver is installed, Windows 10 will select that driver instead of the standard USB audio 2.0 driver when you first connect the device.
Though originally designed for exclusively Apple products, Apogee have expanded their firmware to support Windows DAWs, though the cross-platform drivers can be a little bit buggy. Much like the Audient, it is a compact device that helps keep your workspace nice and tidy.
Having shoddy drivers is a nightmare for any new audio interface owner, so you can rest easy if you decide to purchase this unit. Much like the previous 3 products, the RME has a compact design unbecoming of its powerful circuitry.
After connecting the audio interface to your computer, there are three major steps required to make sure that Ableton Live is set up correctly to recognize it. 1. Make sure the interface is recognized by your computer, 2. update the driver, 3. ensure Ableton live is set to the right audio device.
